Powerful Readers Data

Closing the Achievement Gap

Over the past four years at Whitworth and Hawthorne Elementary Schools, the average percentage of second grade students reaching grade level reading has dramatically increased in comparison to the Seattle School District average. The following tables demonstrate how Powerful Readers is shrinking the achievement gap at two of our Powerful Schools while the gap is widening at two schools not served by Powerful Readers. This data is taken from the 2nd grade year-end Direct Reading Assessment scores published by the Seattle School District.
