Powerful Learning Centers

Overview / ClassesMission, Principles / Results

Powerful Learning Centers (formerly Community Schools) provides youth, community volunteers, and families with opportunities to pursue education together in a fun and supportive environment, so that when the school bell rings the learning doesn’t end.

Powerful Learning Centers was founded on the concept that children and families benefit when schools become hubs for lifelong learning in the community. This program provides after-hours classes to children and adults, offering extended academic school-day programs, learning opportunities not available during regular school hours, such as dance classes for pre-schoolers, choir, sports, ESL (English as a Second Language) tutoring, as well as tutoring in homework centers.

By making school resources and programs available to both children and adults, Powerful Learning Centers  programs encourage intergenerational activities that actively recruit caregivers and families in the educational process. With community partners such as the Seattle Public SchoolsOffice of Community Learning and School's Out Washington, Powerful Learning Centers' programs continually provide our school communities with access to high-quality after-school education and enrichment.
